after ticking the runinlaamu marathon (in 2018), i knew there was going to be a come back the next year too. Coca-Cola runinlaamu was a taste of paradise, island life in its simplest form. it gave you peace of mind in a surrounding that was absolutely right.
early morning when the race started, there was a sea breeze that rustled the coconut leaves soothing the tense body. the quietness of the island, the chirping of the crickets, the smell of earth, the trees and the thousands of stars illuminating the sky brought peace and calmness that you rarely felt. it was going to be 4 plus hours of bliss you knew instantly.
day broke and the spectacular sun rose to show off more of the beautiful islands that linked laamu atoll. as you ran through the islands you were met by smiling islanders who were out to catch the best part of the day. the good mornings and the cheering soared your spirit to no end.
to make it all complete, the hospitality, and the helpfulness of the people were evident in the marshalls who were part of the well organised race. the constant checking of your status and the floating First Aiders on motorbikes made sure you were getting the best treatment. the flat route made it easy for PBs.
it was definitely a run to keep returning to.
and look for me at 2am on saturday morning of the 26th of january 2019.
#runinlaamu here I come again!!
