Addu City, located in the southernmost point of Maldives is a collection of 6 inhabited islands connected by bridges and causeways, creating the longest stretch of land in the country with a total of approximately 14 kms. the city is historic, and still has remains from the British colony dating back to 1941 to 1961. immerse yourself into this era as you walk the streets of Gan in your trip to Addu! you land and step down to Gan Island, where the international airport of the atoll resides. this island was home to the British naval and air base, clothing factories and a cinema which previously was in operation, giving you some rich culture to explore.

how about mixing it with some diving, snorkeling and just chilling on the beautiful beaches of addu? if you are an ocean junkie, the Manta Dive site and British Loyalty Shipwreck are two points that should not be missed. Addu City offers a number of diverse dive sites such as Turtle Point, Gan Inside and Kandu Huraa Region, whether you are a beginner or an experienced diver! the water sport enthusiasts have many many activities that they can indulge themselves in such as kayaking, kite surfing, etc. Koattey and Feydhoo surrounds with some amazing surf breaks and a perfect spot for canoeing and paddling are the channels in between the uninhabited islands, Gan and Maradhoo. do enquire with your hotel staff as to how you should get to these locations.

a do not miss is a visit to the mangroves (kulhi)! home to schools of fresh water fishes, the mesmerizing mangroves are located in the island of Hithadhoo. perhaps take a trip down to Koattey, where peace and tranquility are at its finest! the ever famous “Ranin Hanaa Fengadaa or Paree Fengadu” in Koattey is a clear clear pond that makes even the rays of sunlight dance! folklore has it that this was a frequent spot where fairies came to bathe and is definitely a site you should not miss.

among the best things one can experience in any destination is a bit of their local cuisine or just simply amazing food! Addu city is renowned for its top quality cafe’s and restuarnats. the local chill spot with exceptionally great food and a beautiful ambience, is the famous “Suvadive Cafe” located in Hithadhoo. this rather stylish cafe has a wall that displays historical images of Addu and large ornamental pond in the center which adds more to the beauty of this place. the prices are quite reasonable and the menu offers food from a selection of pizzas, pastas, steaks, sandwiches, salads, rices and exceptionally good fresh juices and mojitos to quench your thirst! then there is the cute little aesthetically pleasing “Paan Pinos” for your daily dose of caffeine fix with little snacks you can enjoy. have you heard of Affogato? if you have not, then you should know that there is a little ice-cream or gelato parlour in Hithadhoo! after your marathons, if you want a happy little treat for you, this the go to place for your protein fix!

while you are enjoying a walk or simply riding a bicycle on the causeway, you can stop by one of the road stalls known as “gaadiyas” for a refreshing fresh coconut. addu is well known for their delicacies such as; Addu Bondi, Gulha, Kulhi Roshi, Anbu Majaa – and all these mouthwatering treats are up for grabs in the road stalls. just sit by and enjoy your evening with a Kurumba and some of these treats while the cool breeze takes away all your worries!
